What I teach

Group sessions that meet people where they are. Every practice is invitational: participants choose how they move, how far they go, and when to rest.

Trauma-informed yoga
Choice-based movement and breath that build body awareness and a sense of agency.

Meditation
Short, accessible practices for settling the body and building stress tolerance.

Mindfulness
Practical tools for noticing sensations, urges, and emotions, and for emotional regulation between sessions.

What participants practice

  • Healthy coping skills they can use outside the room
  • Stress tolerance, one breath at a time
  • Body awareness and listening to physical cues
  • Emotional regulation in the moment

Designed to work with your program

This is recovery and behavioral health support that complements your treatment or program model. It doesn’t replace clinical care or therapy.

I’m glad to collaborate with your team and weave in the themes, values, and skills your clients are already working on, so what happens on the mat connects to what happens in treatment or program.

Non-faith based. Open to people in any recovery pathway or following any behavioral health plan.

Peer-supported community. Practicing alongside others reduces isolation and builds connection.

Trauma-informed. Predictable structure, clear invitations, and no pressure to perform.

Outcomes we can track together

Depending on your program’s goals, we can agree on simple ways to measure whether the sessions are helping.

Session engagement: Attendance and participation over time.

Coping tools between sessions: Practices participants report using on their own.

Program completion support: How the sessions support participants in staying with the program.

Connection with safety: Participants’ sense of safety in their bodies and in the group.

I’m comfortable following your facility’s documentation format and working within your clinical team’s guidelines.

Experience

Years of teaching people who benefit from a gentle, adaptable, trauma-informed approach.

2016 and 2019: Harbor Village, Miami. Taught yoga and meditation at youth recovery inpatient center, including case notes for each resident.

2017 to 2019: Connection Coalition. Taught trauma-informed yoga in after-school programs for at-risk youth, from elementary through high school.

2016 to present: Teach people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people in cancer remission, and people with Parkinson’s.

Miami studios with general population: 305 Yoga, Lighthouse Yoga, and Exhale.

About Alex

I’m Alex Cordovi, a trauma-informed yoga teacher; and while I’ve been teaching yoga since 2012, it wasn’t until 2016 that I found trauma-informed yoga through 305 Yoga. Since 2016 I’ve taught yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to people who are often left out of traditional studio classes: at-risk youth, young people in inpatient recovery, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people in cancer remission, and people living with Parkinson’s.

Those groups taught me that safety comes first, choice is part of the practice, and small tools people can take home matter more than any pose.

I’ve kept this work going privately, and I’m now returning to treatment and behavioral health settings. I’d like to bring a calm, collaborative practice to groups, where people can build skills alongside each other.

Training:

  • E-RYT 500 (2017)
  • Yoga for 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR) Certification (2017)
  • Trauma-Informed Outreach Certification, Connection Coalition (2017)
  • Yin Yoga Certification (2019)
